Why is my APC UPS not working?

Why is my APC battery backup blinking red?
This indicates that the UPS is performing a battery self-test. If a certain test fails, the red battery replacement indicator will turn on. This LED should remain lit until the device performs a self-test.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in loss or serious injury.

Connect the battery

- Reattach the battery cover.

Install the Power ChuteTM Personal Edition software
Use PowerChute Personal Edition system configuration for UPS settings. During a power outage, PowerChute minimizes all open files on your laptop and shuts it down. When power is restored, the user’s computer restarts. Note. PowerChute only works with the Windows operating system. If you’re using Mac OSX, use the built-in shutdown feature of your system. For more information, see the documentation that came with your computer.
Installation
Use the cable provided with the Back-UPS to connect the Back-UPS data port to your software’s USB port. Launch www.apc.com on your computer. Search for “PowerChute Personal Edition”, then click “More Info” to download the latest version of the PCPE utility. Click on the download and link to the software product. Choose the right Doing Work system. Follow the instructions to download all the software.

Backup battery and powered outlets
When the Back-UPS receives input power, the backup battery powers connected devices through surge protected outlets.overvoltage. In the event of a power outage or other AC power problem, the backup battery outlets are powered by the BackUPS for a limited time. Connect peripherals such as printers, tape drives, scanners, and other peripherals that do not require battery backup to provide surge-protected facilities only. These outlets provide continuous surge protection even if the Back-UPS is turned off frequently.

Operation
Energy saving screen
The screen can be set to remain on, or to save power, it can be set to dim after a reasonable period of inactivity.
- Continuous mode: Press and hold the DISPLAY button for two minutes. The screen will light up and the backup will beep frequently to confirm permanent mode.
- Power saving mode: press and holdPress the DISPLAY button for two minutes. The display turns off and the Back-UPS beeps to confirm that it has entered standby mode. In sleep mode, the screen turns off when you press the button, then the product turns off after 60 seconds of inactivity.

Unit Sensitivity
Set the sensitivity related to managing additional backups when the application goes into battery mode; The higher the sensitivity, the more often the Back-UPS switches to different power sources.
- Make sure the Back-UPS is connected to power but turned off.
- Press and hold the POWER button for six seconds and keep it pressed. The LOAD CAPACITY indicator will likely turn on and off intermittently to indicate that most Back-UPS units are in leveling mode.
- Press the ON/OFF button again to easily scroll through the menu items. Stop at the selected sensitivity level. When you save, you will hear a beep to confirm your selection.
